For 21 months, former UltimateBet employees had access to hand data and could play poker while they saw their opponents’ hole cards. “The fraudulent activity was enabled by unauthorized software code that allowed the perpetrators to obtain hole card information during live play,” official statement on UB.com.

This bares much resemblance with the previous scandal. Old Absolute Poker employees had access to code allowing them to see the hole cards of the poker players they were up against. AP started by claiming that it was “determined with reasonable certainty that no can see the hole cards.” They were proven wrong.
