I remember when... and it wasn't too long ago... that the names
Hold'em and Omaha were really just names of games that I saw in the Neighborhood Poker Games books that you could find in about any of the GAMES stores in the area. The game we played was determined by the "dealer" and I really mean the guy that was shuffling and dealing the cards - he picked whatever
weird named game he could think of and if you know Ben R, he usually would "make up" 2-3 before the night was over.... Yep and the more wild cards the better! It seems like a long time ago now. I was going through cleaning up some old documents on my hard drive and came across this list of games that we used to help our memories select what game we would like to play next....
See if there are any on here that know or don't know and perhaps share a few of older games that you used to play back when the only time we saw a $100 bet was in some freakish match-the-pot game like
Acey-
Deucey....
Enjoy!

Not bad, I'd throw out a few more: Ana Cana Pana Sana (no idea what its called outside of the one game I played it at), Black Mariah, Burn the Cross, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Price is Right, Hi- Heart Hi-Spade Hi-Hand, Night Baseball, 3-card Guts. And I hear your point about Acey Deucey, that game is sick, I remember playing at a family reunion for $0.25 antes and my uncle had to write a check for $400 when he hit a 3 on an A-3 split....
On Friday nights we play a lot of 4x4, Combo (which is Follow the Queen with Chicigo, high spade in hole wins ha;f the pot), 5x4, Jacks or Better, Criss Cross (the worst game ever invented), Bags of Trash, and Low Ball Double Draw.
On the new Thursday night game that we've started after getting pissed off about the rape, I meant rake we play tons of O8, and also include Texas HE, Stud Hi/Lo Split, Pass the Trash, Buy and Buy (writting a post on that one win I get time to finish it), Razz, and some other games that build pots and give lots of action. We used to play Acey Duecey but the game had a cap on the max bet for all games and AD needs to be played uncapped. When we did it uncapped, I remember one guy having to post 4 times in a row and lost over $600 for that game so it ended pretty quickly.
Now 2 Card Guts was the ultimate game ever played. We used to play for quarters back when I worked for the state and it was nothing to have $100 pots on the drafting table. So much fun back then.
