Poker Web site sold to top editor
From Staff Reports
RALEIGH - The online Triangle Poker Journal has been sold to its top editor. Founder George Smart, who started the poker Web site in 2005, announced the deal to sell the site to senior blog editor Charles Richards on Monday.
Terms were not disclosed, though Smart did say it was a six-figure deal. The Web site, www.trianglepokerjournal.com, features a top 10 list of area poker players ranked by earnings and resources for area poker players.

Proof of how the N&O is always correct:
"Terms were not disclosed, though Smart did say it was a six-figure deal."
vs
“It was a six-figure deal. I just won’t comment on where the decimal point was.”
Way to N&O. It's sad when they can't even copy and paste to get a sorry right.
Not only that, but you just know some idiot Fed is going to launch an investigation based on the article. After all, if the site is worth six figures, then there must be a bunch of illegal multi-million dollar poker games going on in the area...
I'm sure they'll appreciate "some idiot fed" too
Probably true, but (although it was a joke, of course) I'm not worried about the smart ones! :-) I would be worried about the type who would take one little piece of incorrect information, then open up a can of worms that ends up costing taxpayers a lot of money and otherwise-innocent poker players a lot of grief. You know, God forbid they make one phone call to verify the accuracy of the story...
A similar thing happened a while back with the bust at Matt's place in Cary. Instead of doing a small amout of policework to discover that their "hot tip" about a weapons arsenal and drug den disguised as a poker game was bogus and politically motivated, they came storming in with half the cops on the eastern seaboard.
I believe they did seize a Bud Light and a couple Millers though, and for that I feel much safer...
