Famous Poker Quotes...

"Try to decide how good your hand is at a given moment. Nothing else matters. Nothing!"

God bless Doyle and all, since he's forgotten more about poker than I'll ever know, but this has to be the stupidest statement ever made (well, next to "Will you marry me?" of course...). He's saying you should never limp in with suited connectors or call a small raise with a little pocket pair, hoping to spike a flop and snap off a player's entire stack. I think either the old guy was misquoted, or the staff at the home forgot to give him his ginkgo biloba that day...

ahhh yes, but couldn't you also think that Doyle would think his 55 was a good hand preflop against a maniac who has been raising every pot? Just because your hand isn't the nuts preflop doesn't mean its not an awesome hand given the context of who you're with and what they're doing with their chips :-)
